Late summer 2001

On our way up to North Carolina we planned to stop and visit family. We parked on Judy's uncle's place where there was plenty of room for our rig. DSCN1617.JPG (75106 bytes) DSCN1607.JPG (22412 bytes) DSCN1613.JPG (91212 bytes) Clayton & Joyce welcomed us to park in the back yard where there still some shade from the waning late summer sun. We didn't need A/C for long as the weather cooled quickly. DSCN1626.JPG (77340 bytes) We thoroughly enjoyed the peace and quite of this south Georgia location. The pecans were coming in and we collected a nice batch for shelling and eating. DSCN1605.JPG (56083 bytes) Of course the pecans  made dandy pies that dripped with whip topping and a scoop of vanilla ice cream! DSCN1628.JPG (80485 bytes)

DSCN1776.JPG (102417 bytes)  DSCN1599.JPG (75004 bytes) The honey bees were not far from giving up and delicious batch of honeycomb. DSCN1603.JPG (56703 bytes) DSCN1604.JPG (80701 bytes)  They weren't the only busy buzzing critters around though! DSCN1609.JPG (95673 bytes) This hornet's nest would attest to that!

Clayton and Joyce are in the process of restoring the old homestead. DSCN1672.JPG (25596 bytes) The grounds were lush with old flowing camellias and many other plants that go back over a hundred years. DSCN1615.JPG (63105 bytes) DSCN1624.JPG (39545 bytes) DSCN1601.JPG (107300 bytes) DSCN1620.JPG (65426 bytes) DSCN1619.JPG (65178 bytes) They were both busy working on remodeling inside the house on the weekends. DSCN1656.JPG (28493 bytes) DSCN1675.JPG (52090 bytes) DSCN1660.JPG (16586 bytes) DSCN1661.JPG (57058 bytes) DSCN1655.JPG (28042 bytes) It all was coming together quite nicely and we look forward to seeing the end results!

We weren't far from Judy's father's place closer to Cairo.   They had rented a nice house where we all enjoyed Mary Ruth's wonderful home cooking! DSCN1648.JPG (35780 bytes) DSCN1649.JPG (56736 bytes) DSCN1632.JPG (13813 bytes) DSCN1643.JPG (45396 bytes) DSCN1646.JPG (42459 bytes) DSCN1650.JPG (81210 bytes) DSCN1647.JPG (23240 bytes) DSCN1651.JPG (63032 bytes) The pond out back was stocked with what seemed like a million fish. They liked to be fed from the little dock which extended out over the water. It was a great place to relax and watch the sun set. DSCN1587.JPG (51029 bytes) DSCN1588.JPG (72939 bytes) DSCN1590.JPG (30278 bytes) DSCN1591.JPG (74056 bytes) DSCN1635.JPG (38331 bytes)

Rosco and Mary Ruth were busy planning their new home just across the road from Clayton and Joyce's while we were there.

DSCN1667.JPG (41281 bytes)  Right now most of the land is covered with a pine tree forest and pecan trees. There is a lush area near the south end that has a creek running through it. DSCN1670.JPG (72362 bytes)  They have since cleared a spot to begin building a new house.

Spring - Summer 2003

A new place for family to grow.

Spring 2006

Here we are back again at the old homestead. Our new "Home Base" back East. It is time to establish some of the other amenities we had been putting off so we set to getting things laid out. Here is a a view of the grassy area out front where Judy has been busy planning her garden. She enjoys keeping some containers growing as we travel but there is nothing like really getting your hands dirty working up the soil for a new garden plot. DSCN5110b.jpg (83215 bytes)

It seems like there is always a new dog looking for a home. This one showed up the night we pulled in a decided he was home. How can you argue with such a sweet face as this? DSCN5112b.jpg (101837 bytes) We named him Blacky. Go figure.

One of the top priorities for our long term comfort at this location was to install a septic system. That way we can easily hook-up and also share more easily with our friends when they come to visit.   DSCN5138b.jpg (104924 bytes) There's always plenty to do. Plenty of projects to keep us busy.
